Pfeil Wood Carving Gouges

Pfeil is a very old Swiss company that has been producing exceptionally high-quality steel tools for over 100 years. Faithful to tradition, Pfeil combines an age-old craft with technological progress to make its tools perfect, state-of-the-art instruments. Pfeil offers one of the broadest and most varied ranges of wood carving gouges, made from special chrome-vanadium steel forged with precision machinery.
The gouge blades, between 110 and 135 mm long, undergo a special heat treatment in electric furnaces with a controlled atmosphere and are tempered until they reach a high hardness of 59-61 HRC (Hardness Rockwell Cone).
Each blade is then sharpened by hand by a craftsman specializing in sharpening, making it ready for use and ensuring an excellent level of sharpness over time.

The blades of Pfeil gouges are then securely mounted and fixed onto an octagonal-profile handle made from selected native ash wood (from Swiss forests), treated exclusively with solvent-free vegetable oil, for excellent comfort and control of the tool while woodworking, including when using a mallet. At the end of the production process, Pfeil gouges will have a variable length of between 245 and 270 mm.
