The SE-77 straight edge jig makes it easy to set up wood chisels and plane irons for sharpening at a right angle. The design provides the best conditions for correct sharpening and a final result characterized by maximum precision. The jig can also be set up for a slightly convex shape.
The SE-77 straight edge jig is a further development of the SE-76 jig. It features an adjustable side that can be configured using two small knobs, which allow for precise adjustment when necessary. The jig may be needed when the tool is not perfectly perpendicular to the grinding wheel, is very narrow, or when the steel is slightly twisted. Precise adjustment can be configured in just a few seconds by loosening one of the small knobs and tightening the other.
The design of the jig also makes it possible to position and sharpen tapered chisels, such as Japanese chisels. The safety stops ensure that the jig is securely attached to the universal support and prevent the tool from slipping off the grinding wheel, eliminating any risk of finger injuries during sharpening. The jig is suitable for wood chisels and plane irons up to 77 mm.
